Locked In is made by one person, so replies usually arrive within two business days. Including your iPhone model and iOS version makes a fix much faster.
What Locked In does
Locked In is a digital detox timer. You pick a focus mode, set a length, and start a session — while it runs, the apps you chose are blocked. Finish the session and the day counts toward your streak. Open a blocked app instead and the session ends without being recorded.
There is no account and no sign-in. The app has no servers and makes no network requests, so nothing you do in it leaves your iPhone. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Getting started
- The dock at the bottom of the screen has three icons: Modes (list), Timer (lock), and Stats (bar chart).
- Open Modes, tap a mode, then Edit → Restricted Apps to choose what gets blocked. The first time, iOS will ask you to allow Screen Time access.
- Go to the Timer, pick your mode and a duration, then press and hold to start.
Blocking and Screen Time
Nothing gets blocked when I start a session
Almost always this is the Screen Time permission. Locked In uses Apple's Family Controls framework, and it cannot block anything without it.
- Check Settings → Screen Time → Apps with Screen Time Access and make sure Locked In is allowed.
- Confirm the mode you started actually has apps selected — blocking is set per mode, not globally.
- If the permission was previously denied, open Restricted Apps in the app again to be re-prompted.
Why can't the app show me which apps I blocked by name?
By design, and not ours. Apple's app picker hands Locked In an opaque token rather than an app name, so the app genuinely cannot see which apps you selected — only that you selected some. This is the same mechanism that keeps your selections private.
I opened a blocked app and lost my session
That is intended. Leaving for a blocked app ends the session and it is not written to your history. Sessions you finish are recorded; sessions you bail out of are not.
Screen Time is asking for a passcode
If Screen Time restrictions are managed by someone else — a parent, guardian, or a device-management profile — that passcode is required to grant app-blocking access. Locked In cannot bypass it.
Sessions, streaks and stats
My streak reset
A streak continues on days you complete at least one session in that mode. Streaks are counted per mode, so finishing a Reading session does not extend your Deep Work streak.
A session is missing from my history
Only completed sessions are saved. If the session was ended early — by you, or by opening a blocked app — it is deliberately not recorded.
Do my stats sync between devices?
No. There is no account and no server, so everything lives on the device it was created on. Nothing transfers to a new iPhone.
Locked In Pro
What's included
The free tier gives you three focus modes and up to three blocked apps per mode. Pro adds unlimited modes, unlimited blocked apps, whole-category blocking (Social, Games, Entertainment), daily goals per mode, and the monthly blocks calendar.
Pro comes three ways: monthly, yearly (the best value of the three), or a one-time Lifetime unlock that never renews. Current prices for your country are shown in the app — open the paywall from anywhere in Locked In, or check the App Store listing. The free tier is not a trial — it does not expire and it does not degrade.
I paid but Pro isn't active
Open the paywall from anywhere in the app and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account used for the original purchase. If it still doesn't unlock, email us and include the date of purchase.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple, not by us. Go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, choose Locked In, and cancel there. Cancelling at least 24 hours before the period ends stops the next renewal. The Lifetime unlock is a one-time purchase and never renews.
What happens if my subscription lapses?
Nothing you already built is taken away. Extra modes and over-limit blocklists stay in place and stay editable — only adding beyond the free limits is gated again.
Refunds
Apple handles all payments and all refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We never see your payment details and cannot issue a refund directly.
Notifications
Locked In sends a local notification when a session ends. These are generated on your device — there is no push server involved. If they aren't arriving, check Settings → Notifications → Locked In, and make sure Focus or Do Not Disturb isn't silencing them.
Your data
Locked In collects nothing. Your modes, session history and app selections are stored only on your iPhone. To erase all of it, delete the app — that removes everything permanently, and there is no copy anywhere else to request or delete.
Bugs and feature requests
Both are welcome at kevranola@gmail.com. For a bug, the most useful things to include are your iPhone model, your iOS version, the app version, and what you were doing when it happened.
